According to the Federal Statistical Office , new manufacturing orders remained constant between April and May in price, calendar and seasonally adjusted terms. The volume of large orders was below average. Following the sharp rise in the preceding month, new orders for intermediate goods declined by 2.9%, and the manufacturers of consumer goods also registered a slight drop ( 0.4%). In contrast, orders for capital goods were up ( 1.9%). The lower level of orders from within Germany ( 1.9%) and the non-eurozone ( 0.3%) were offset by sharp increases in orders from the eurozone countries ( 4.0%).
